San Francisco-FiDi Office
My clients come to therapy with concerns in a variety of areas ranging from stress and anxiety to depression, substance use and trauma. The specific form of presenting problem can be different however, the one thing that all of my clients have in common is that something is keeping them stuck and they want help to resolve it. The individuals that I work with are motivated for change and seek therapy to help them gain insight as a pathway to developing tools to address their difficulties.
I integrate evidence-based practices, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, with an overall strengths based focus. I view the therapy relationship as a collaborative one and seek to use empathy, support, humor and straightforward feedback when needed to help clients reach their goals.
WHY I LOVE THIS WORK
I feel privileged to have a job where I get to meet people at transitional periods in their lives and can help to facilitate positive changes.
WHAT I WANT FOR YOU
I hope to create a safe and open space where my clients can feel comfortable talking about areas in their lives where they may be having difficulty. Throughout the therapy process I want goals and expectations to be clear so that the focus can always be on how to keep finding solutions and improving my client's lives. I hope that at the end of treatment clients feel like they have the tools they need to have self confidence in achieving their goals with respect to career, relationships and ongoing personal growth.
MY SPECIALTIES, BACKGROUND, AND PERSONAL INTERESTS
I have had the opportunity to work with children and adults from various ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds with a wide range of mental health and psychosocial concerns. My experience includes providing individual therapy and group therapy in a variety of settings, including court mandated programs, community mental health, and VA hospitals. Through these experiences I have had the opportunity to gain specialized training in the areas of treating trauma and mood disorders.
I value diversity and welcome clients of all backgrounds. I believe in getting to know my clients as whole persons, including all aspects of their identities and their impact on that individuals’ experiences.
Outside of work I enjoy cooking, checking out the city's many museums and sports like soccer and indoor rock climbing.
